First Reading

Open book on a desk with a coffee cup.

I’m humbled to have been a part of The Black Fork Review’s Issue 7 launch party last night. Everyone who read their work was truly phenomenal and I can’t believe I was chosen to be amongst their numbers.

It was a surreal experience to read my words aloud. So often, being an author means you’re by yourself, with a keyboard, frequently in silence. To be a part of an event with vibrant and energetic writers, whose words were creating a musicality only possible when spoken, was breathtaking. As one of the other readers said though, it was even more surreal to be able to read my story not from a Word document, but from a website wherein it had been published.

I’m eternally grateful to those editors who voted for my work to be included. It is an honor and a privilege, and I’m elated to be a part of The Black Fork Review.
